Day and Night of the Soul

Day and Night of the Soul

Opening Reception Thursday June 13th at Ghost Gallery from 5-9pm during Capitol Hill Art Walk for Pride Month. Ghost Gallery is located at 1111 E. Pike St, in the Chophouse Row community in Seattle Washington.

JUNE 13th – JULY 7th 2019

“These pieces were done while traveling the road of a Dark Night of the Soul.
Then came the awakening.
The process.
The creation.
They are a collaboration of images drawn through trials, paranoia, pain, healing and learning. When words weren’t able to be spoken, they came out as creation. Just like going through a Dark Night of the Soul, something beautiful emerged. Something awakened. The night turned to day.”

Annie’s work is impulsively influenced and respected by nature. She uses creation as a healing method as art is her therapy. Her eye for creativity is dimmed when she is told to follow specific guidelines and rules. Never a fan of planning and sketchbooks, most of her work is done in sporadic bursts. She adds a dementia to the beauty that is found in nature and reminds the viewer of the harshness
that mother nature can offer.
She was born in a small steel town in Northeastern Pennsylvania, migrated to Philadelphia, then to Southern California. Then she roamed to San Francisco, back to that small steel town in Pennsylvania and now she spends her days in her tiny home in Seattle with her two dogs Olaf and Bender, her plants and her partner. When not she’s creating, Annie is an intuitive healer working with both animals and humans. She runs a website that offers free guided meditations for the chronically ill and those home bound due to chronic illness at // Work will be available to pickup/ship starting July 7th, 21019

Spring Update

Greetings from the Spring weather we are now having here in Seattle. It has been hard(er) to create the past few weeks with the warmer weather coming in and the days being longer, but I have been doing what I can.

Recently I had the honor to create a 2020 Moon Cycle Calendar for the More Than Lyme event happening in Denver as we speak. It has been such an honor to share my artwork and my meditations with Chloe and the community. With that being said, it is also something I am moving away from and onto new things. I will be making meditations supporting the community still, just detaching greatly from the label of an illness. I feel that this label has been attached to me for so long (since 1994!) that it has become my identity. A huge part of my healing process is destroying that label and making my health issues in the past, not the present. Therefore the new series I will be working on and showcasing soon is called Day and Night of The Soul. It is about rebirth and spiritual awakening.

The last few months have been such a change for me. I have gone back and forth between who the fuck I am and why I am here and what is this life all about. I put that into my artwork. All of it. The days when I couldn’t walk, the days when money became a very evident issue or the times trauma triggered me into a state of hopeless thoughts. My artwork got me through.

As someone incredibly drawn to darkness, I am full of light. As an energy worker, I have worked greatly on my own darkness and faced a great deal in my lifetime, especially while creating these pieces. Going through a Dark Night of the Soul was an incredibly terrifying, six year experience for me. But I made it. And what lies on the other side of that dark night is a lot of light. It just makes no sense when you’re in the thick of it.

Stay tuned for where I will be showing these pieces as I have been offered a few options.

New Pieces Coming Soon

Hello everyone.

I know I am scarce with artwork updates, but when it flows, it flows. I have to work with that.

I have been having a lot of time home as of late and therefore focus a little more time and energy on my artwork. Its such a blessing to get lost in something for a few hours and then see what comes out of that.

Stay tuned, I will post all of the pieces when I am finished (whenever that may be).

Love and light,

Book Cover Design and Update

Screen Shot 2018-12-26 at 1.42.59 PM.png

I am pleased to close the year 2018 with news of a new last name, new artwork, and an offer to do a book cover.

I had recently taken some time off creating in order to relocate from Philadelphia to Seattle. I also had the opportunity to spend some time in Montana on the way across the country. The words magical are an understatement about the whole experience. Now that I am settled, I am enjoying spending time with the new husband and getting back into treatment mode with my health.

Earlier this year I was offered the opportunity to do this book cover. I put a good deal of time into making sure what I created was what the writer wanted. It was interesting combining both of our views. I also had the chance to create a few small pieces to sell for the holidays which sold rather fast.

I plan to sketch here and there and post more small pieces in my store when I am done. I tend to make the best artwork when I do not have to, when I sit down because life has gotten heavy and the only way not to lose my mind is to draw while listening to metal. It is my best therapy and I am blessed it can also give me some financial means.

I hope this year is ending well for you and please keep in touch and reach out with any custom piece requests or just to connect.

Spring Update

It is not quite Spring yet, but it is coming.

I wanted to take a moment to update the site with an update of what has been going on for the past three months now.

The shop has grown, and rather quickly at that. Thank you everyone for your purchases and with your patience as I learn the ropes of starting an online business. It is not the obvious things that take time and work, it is the small things. Things you wouldn’t even think of. Either way, it is all coming together wonderfully and I thank you all for your support and love.

I will be adding some new prints, bracelets as well as some home goods to the site over the next few weeks. It is incredible for me to be able to do something that I love and make some extra money.

With that being said, it is important for me to mention my health as well.

As much as I would love to keep it like a secret, my health is a huge part of my artwork and why I create. I began working with the head doctor at the clinic that I go to and I am very impressed. With that being said, there is much more work to do now that I am working with someone very familiar with the complexity of my case.

Basically, the clinic I go to is somewhere that people end up when doctors are at a loss of where to go next. The great thing though is that I ended up there and I am in good hands. The other side of it is there is once again no time limit, no known path to go and all we can do is move ahead in the dark hoping we are on the right path. I am learning that with my health, it will not matter where I am, how I got there or how much I have because anything will be possible. But that takes time.

Going through this experience has really flexed my artistic and creative muscle and I am blessed for that. I put a lot of my fear, frustration and discomfort into my artwork. Creating in the armchair, propped up in front of the TV watching Netflix or listening to music. It gets me through and I am happy to share what I create with others as a result.

Friendly reminder that I will be a part of this event coming up on April 15, 2018. Along with my work, one of my friends from the west coast is coming out to join the event. You can check out her work here. I am also forever grateful to Oh Jamie Elizabeth for connecting me to the event. The art community is a magnificent thing.

Thanks for all the support and I hope to see some of you out at the event.

My Writing

Lost in deep thought while on a walk this morning I gathered that I should mention my writing  on my website. Writing, along with my visual artwork has been what has fueled me over the last few years and the visual art pieces I do are equally as much of a release as my writing has been. I mainly show my sculptures and ethical bone work on my site, but I also do a lot of writing and sketching too.

You can follow me here to read the writing I do on The Mighty Site.
